These Terms & Conditions apply when you use our website or purchase goods from us. Please read them carefully before placing an order.

By placing an order through our website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Howie’s Picks is a UK-based independent retailer specialising in antique, vintage, collectable and pre-owned items.

Throughout these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Howie’s Picks.

2. Our Products

Much of the stock offered by Howie’s Picks consists of antique, vintage, collectable or pre-owned items.

Many products are one-of-a-kind and may show signs of age, previous use and wear.

These characteristics may include, where appropriate:

• surface marks and scratches;
• patina and tarnishing;
• crazing;
• fading or discolouration;
• minor chips or imperfections;
• wear to finishes, decoration or surfaces;
• historic repairs or alterations; and
• other age-related characteristics.

We make reasonable efforts to identify and describe significant damage, defects or restoration that we discover.

However, the age and nature of antique and vintage items means that minor signs of age and previous use should generally be expected.

This does not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty, materially not as described or otherwise fail to meet the requirements of applicable consumer law.

3. Product Descriptions & Photographs

We take reasonable care to describe and photograph our products accurately.

Photographs form an important part of our product descriptions, particularly when showing the condition of antique, vintage and pre-owned items.

Colours and appearance may vary slightly depending on lighting, photography and the screen or device used to view the website.

Measurements, dates, ages, materials, weights, attributions and other product information are provided as accurately as reasonably possible.

Where measurements are approximate, they should be treated as such.

If you require additional photographs, measurements or information about an item, please contact us before purchasing.

4. Age, Maker & Attribution

We research our stock and aim to provide accurate information.

However, identifying and dating antique and vintage objects is not always an exact science.

Where appropriate, descriptions may use terms such as “believed to be”, “attributed to”, “in the style of”, “circa”, “possibly”, “probably” or similar wording to indicate that information represents our reasonable assessment rather than a definitive attribution.

Where an item carries a visible maker’s mark, signature, hallmark or label, we may describe that mark. Unless expressly stated otherwise, this should not necessarily be interpreted as independent authentication of the item.

We will not knowingly misrepresent an item.

5. Availability

Many of our products are individual pieces and only one is available.

We may also offer stock through other sales channels, physical retail locations, antiques centres, fairs or events.

We take reasonable steps to keep our website stock levels accurate. However, on rare occasions, an item may sell through another channel before the website inventory updates.

If an item is unavailable after you place an order, we will contact you and refund any payment made for that item.

6. Placing an Order

When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your order.

Receiving an automated order acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that we have accepted your order.

A contract between you and Howie’s Picks is formed when we accept your order.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order where there is a legitimate reason to do so, including where:

• an item is no longer available;
• there has been an obvious pricing or listing error;
• payment has not been authorised;
• we cannot deliver to the address supplied; or
• we reasonably suspect fraudulent activity.

Where we cancel an order after payment has been taken, we will refund the appropriate amount.

7. Prices

Prices are displayed in pounds sterling (£).

The price payable is the price displayed when you place your order, subject to any obvious pricing or technical error.

Delivery charges, where applicable, will be shown separately during checkout.

If we discover an obvious error affecting the price of an item before accepting your order, we will contact you. You will not be required to purchase the item at the incorrect price.

8. Payment

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods available at checkout.

Your order may not be dispatched or made available for collection until the required payment has been successfully received or authorised.

Payment processing may be carried out by third-party payment providers.

9. Delivery

Available delivery methods and charges are displayed during checkout. Where applicable, our checkout may calculate combined postage when multiple items are purchased in the same order.

We aim to dispatch orders promptly and package items appropriately for their nature, size, age and fragility.

Delivery dates and times are estimates unless we have expressly agreed otherwise.

10. Local Collection

Local Collection may be offered for eligible orders.

If you choose Local Collection, please wait until we have confirmed that your order is ready and provided or confirmed the collection arrangements before travelling to collect it.

We may ask for reasonable proof of purchase when an order is collected.

11. Cancellation & Change of Mind

Consumers purchasing goods online will normally have a legal right to cancel their purchase within the applicable statutory cancellation period.

For most online purchases of goods, this is 14 days after receiving the goods.

There are exceptions to cancellation rights in certain circumstances.

Nothing in these terms restricts your statutory cancellation rights.

12. Faulty or Misdescribed Goods

Goods sold by Howie’s Picks are subject to your statutory consumer rights.

Where applicable, goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for their intended purpose.

When assessing an antique, vintage or pre-owned item’s condition, its age, description, price and other relevant circumstances may naturally affect what can reasonably be expected from it.

A clearly disclosed imperfection or characteristic that you were made aware of before purchasing will not normally make an item faulty simply because that characteristic exists.

If you believe an item is faulty or materially not as described, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

13. Electrical & Mechanical Items

Where we sell vintage or pre-owned electrical or mechanical items, the product description will state any relevant information we have about their condition or operation.

Because of their age, vintage electrical items may not meet modern specifications and may require inspection, servicing or maintenance by an appropriately qualified person.

Any specific testing we have carried out will be described where relevant.

Nothing in this section excludes or restricts your statutory rights or our legal obligations concerning product safety.

14. Items Sold for Decorative, Display or Restoration Purposes

Occasionally, an item may be specifically described as being sold for decorative, display, restoration, spares or repair purposes.

Where this applies, it will be stated in the product description.

Please consider this information carefully before purchasing.

This does not remove any statutory rights that legally apply to the sale.
